Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Strategy Consultation

The consultation period for the Scottish Government Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Strategy continues over the summer, for more information on the strategy please follow this link: STEM Strategy. To ensure the voice of CLD is represented in the consultation process, Learning Link Scotland and Community Learning and Development Managers Scotland are working together with Education Scotland to arrange a consultation with the CLD sector.

STEM subject matter to us all, whether using digital technology and numeracy to analyse political statistics; using environmental science to look at ways of measuring the impact we have on our environment or using STEM topics in family learning.

Consultation Meeting

We are organising a consultation meeting on Friday 4 August 2017, tea and coffee available from 10.30 for a meeting from 11.00 to 1.00 in Robertson House, 152 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4TB. Please let Jackie Howie know if you would like to come along.

Case study 

We also aim to collate examples of practice which contribute, either directly or indirectly, to the principles outlined in the strategy.  With this in mind can you provide any details of recent or ongoing work with which address aspects of the strategy. For example programmes or interventions which may include:

   – Developing digital skills e.g. coding/programming

   – Numeracy e.g. financial literacy/ participative budgeting/ Universal credit

   – Engineering projects e.g. car, bicycle or motorcycle maintenance

   – Relevant skills introduced through Developing the Young Workforce

This is not an exhaustive list and there could be other examples you wish to highlight.
