Research and Development

Through developing and supporting research on adult learning by the voluntary sector, we can encourage others to recognise its value and the contribution it can make to policy and practice.

Often working in partnership with organisations from across the adult learning sector, we are able to support organisations and practitioners to work with their own communities to build upon good practice and develop new and creative thinking.

Our current work in this area includes

  • ESOL provision and support

We have just completed some research into the provision and support for English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) This research has been passed to the Scottish Executive and shows that voluntary organisations provide a wide range of support to ESOL learners, from certificated ESOL training to less formal instruction and opportunities for conversation.

  • PACT - Participative Active Citizenship Tools

This Socrates Gruntvig project looks at methods and tools for engaging with communities    around citizenship, more information can be found on the PACT page

Further information on any of the above projects, or on the Research & Development works of Learning Link Scotland, can be obtained from Jayne Stuart, Director.
